What We Do

Set Ready is a training and employment programme that supports the next generation of film and tv talent as they take their first steps into production and on to set.

We place diversity and inclusion right at the heart of all recruitment, ensuring the screen industries workforce reflects all our communities. Set Ready sources and nurtures new people, new skills and new voices, to tackle head-on some of the under-representation and skills shortages the industry faces.

Fully Focused Productions is honoured to have partnered with FilmFixer to design and launch the inaugural Set Ready training programme, a fully inclusive free to access training programme that supports the very best underrepresented young off-screen talent. It can be daunting to turn up to a major film or TV set for the first time in an entry-level position, Set-Ready is an extensive but accessible introduction that demystifies production process from understanding freelance culture, to crew hierarchy, a guide to specialist lingo and even how to use a radio. The final course placement on an HETV or major film set is the highlight with Film Fixer securing incredible roles for the young trainees!

Establishing Liverpool as a production hub has been our main goal for over 30 years, now it’s about building our talent pipeline with the people who can support the UK’s production boom and build a career in the industry here. Partnering with Set Ready was a perfect opportunity to put our Screen Workforce Strategy into practice, working with a great range of industry organisations in FilmFixer, ScreenSkills and Fully Focused to develop an effective programme that has delivered. The Set Ready cohort is full of enthusiastic, talented and ambitious individuals at the start of their careers in film & TV production and to see some of them already getting stuck in on set with major productions in the city is immensely rewarding.
LynnLiverpool Film Office
Screen Suffolk worked in conjunction with FilmFixer and the Set Ready Trainers during the course that was delivered to West Suffolk College. In our role as the official Film Office for Suffolk we manage countless shoots a year. We are looking forward to offering Set Ready Alumni roles on upcoming productions, during the course we guided each student through our crew database and assisted with the registration process; we created a designated 'Set Ready' category and we're looking forward to placing them on film sets all over Suffolk in the near future.

A total of 21 students from the new L4 Digital Film Production course at West Suffolk College participated in the three day ’Set Ready’ training with Filmfixer and Screen Suffolk. These sessions were incredibly informative for the students, giving them realistic additional insight into the industry they are training towards. Students had the chance to speak with professionals, some of which were on location at the time, and really delve into areas such as set-etiquette and personal finances. This training leads towards paid work placements whereas individuals will have the chance to work on-set for productions in the region. The students were very excited by this proposition as it's a fantastic opportunity to network and build those all important connections, supporting the students own personal career paths. Combined with their course of study this really does give our students an advantage to reach their goals within the creative industry.
